London, York, and Edinburgh - 2026

May 28 鈥 June 4, 2026
We're thrilled to introduce our immersive interdisciplinary exploration of London, York, and Edinburgh. Participants will delve into centuries of history, marvel at iconic landmarks, and savor authentic British experiences. Throughout the journey, travelers will witness the seamless integration of historic architecture with cutting-edge modern technology.
Our adventure begins in London, where guided tours will take us to renowned sites such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, St. Paul鈥檚 Cathedral, and the London Bridge. A highlight waits atop the iconic London Eye, offering panoramic views of the city's blend of historical and contemporary architecture.
Next, we'll journey to York, where the medieval charm and grandeur of York Minster await. Dating back to the early 7th Century, this majestic cathedral boasts stunning stained glass windows from the Middle Ages, promising an enchanting experience.
Our final destination is Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, characterized by its steep streets, stone buildings, and the imposing Edinburgh Castle. Participants will explore the picturesque streets of New Town, marvel at the towering spire of the Sir Walter Scott Monument, and uncover the rich heritage of
Edinburgh Castle, perched atop a volcanic rock.
大象传媒 Study Abroad, we pride ourselves on our innovative program design, fostering intercultural and interdisciplinary learning experiences. Our private and customized program embeds departments that align with the countries we visit. Each department tailors its course, integrating our itinerary into their teaching and desired outcomes. Every program is intentionally designed to feature guided learning, cultural engagement, and global competency.

As part of the interdisciplinary studies, all travelers will engage in the following programs.
Architecture, Interior Design and Historic Preservation with Professor Dawn Viola
The study of Architecture, Interior Design and Historic Preservation of structures built as far back as the 11th century will provide participants an opportunity to experience first-hand how communities have worked to sustain historic assets that influence design to this day. This trip will include in depth discovery of London鈥檚 historic architecture and city planning centuries much older than what participants at 大象传媒 can experience in the United States.
The study abroad trip will provide an opportunity for travelers to study the historic details of both architecture and interior design of locations like Scotland鈥檚 Edinburgh castle and learn how professionals and community members in the United Kingdom have fought to preserve their heritage and teach future designers and community members how to apply these methods to the challenges we face locally. London is an excellent example of historic structures juxtaposed with modern structures developing a rich blend of visual textures and materials. World renowned architect Norman Foster designed London鈥檚 new city hall with innovative materials that reduced the surface area and increased the energy efficiency purely by implementing basic design steps. This balance of preserving history, designing the future, and paying close attention to the energy usage will be the primary challenges throughout the world and here in our backyard. Participants in our study abroad trip will experience historic architecture alongside innovative modern technology. By creating in person activities, participants can physically immerse themselves in the design world outside of Colorado and experience the spaces as the designers intended. Nothing is as impactful as the feeling of the light bouncing off intricately designed interior spaces or the tactile feeling of uncommon materials and textures.

Business & Communications with Professor Jacquelyn Buechner
Business and Communication students will be exposed to international business environments which is a crucial experience for those who are eager to become successful business professionals. This experience will offer students a chance to immerse themselves in three of Europe鈥檚 most dynamic business sectors, providing firsthand exposure to international commerce, cultural diversity, and global economic trends.
In London, students will visit esteemed financial institutions such as the London Stock Exchange and Bank of England. Yorkshire offers a unique change to explore renowned industries like the Sheffield Cutlery Shop known for its excellence in cutlery and steel and Seabrook Crisps, a prominent manufacturer of potato crisps. Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, student will engage with local entrepreneurs gaining insight into Scotland鈥檚 economy and visiting the Scottish Parliament for a distinctive perspective.
One of the primary benefits of studying abroad is the opportunity to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. Communication is a key component to help students navigate these interactions effectively, teaching them how to communicate across cultural boundaries, and adapt their communication style to different context. Incorporating these high-impact strategies ensures that the trip provides a comprehensive learning experience, equipping students with a deeper understanding of international business environments and preparing them for future professional endeavors. I am enthusiastic about leading students to each of these vibrant cities where they not only witness cultural landmarks but also interact with industry professionals. This immersive experience promises to transform their understanding of business through real-world encounters.
Photography, Art Appreciation and Intercultural Studies with Professor Trish Sangelo
Photography and Art Appreciation are courses that offer universal appeal, providing all students with an enjoyable and enriching learning experience. Through our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, students will develop both technical proficiency and aesthetic sensibility in utilizing cameras and smartphones. Moreover, they will delve into various aspects of travel photography, encompassing culture, cuisine, landscapes, landmarks, and the diverse people encountered during our journeys. Our curriculum integrates conceptual studies and hands-on activities, including museum visits, group discussions, and guided tours to delve into the historical and cultural dimensions of the cities we explore.
Cities like London, York, and Edinburgh, characterized by a blend of Roman, Gothic, Medieval, Neoclassical, and modern architecture, offer a compelling canvas for students to document and analyze, fostering a dynamic learning environment. Historically, our photography program has been the most popular, attracting 12-18 students per trip, including those with no prior art experience. This accessible subject often ignites a spark of creativity in students, leading many to pursue more advanced art and photography courses upon their return.

Dominican Republic Healthcare Study Abroad - 2027

The Dominican Republic Healthcare Study Abroad program provides students with invaluable hands-on experiences that not only broaden their global understanding but also enhance their perspectives on patient care. By comparing healthcare systems, including rehabilitation centers at the Ocoa Rehabilitation Association and the community health screenings at CPN Pueblo Abajo, students directly observe differences in resources, approaches to patient care, and community health initiatives. These experiences allow students to recognize the strengths and limitations of healthcare delivery in both the Dominican Republic and the United States.
For example, observing the Dominican approach to rehabilitation and early intervention services for children with developmental delays offers students a new perspective on how limited resources shape care delivery. Similarly, visiting local healthcare facilities and interacting with healthcare professionals in the DR helps students gain a greater appreciation for the importance of community-based care and resourcefulness in healthcare settings.
Through these experiences, students develop a more compassionate response to care. Witnessing firsthand the resilience of patients and healthcare professionals working with limited resources fosters empathy and an understanding of the diverse needs of individuals in various healthcare environments. This cultural and professional exposure helps students refine their ability to respond with greater sensitivity, patience, and respect toward patients in their future healthcare practices, particularly when faced with challenges in resource-limited settings.
These insights are particularly valuable for students returning to healthcare environments in the United States, where resource allocation, community outreach, and patient-centered care are critical components of effective healthcare delivery. By understanding how different systems approach patient care, students are better equipped to adapt and apply innovative solutions to patient care challenges they may encounter in the US, especially in underserved communities or areas with limited healthcare access. This comparative experience deepens their ability to think critically, enhance patient care practices, and become more adaptable healthcare professionals in a diverse, globalized world.
Places Visited During the Program
ADESJO
Adesjo Ocoa is a municipality in the province, San Jos茅 de Ocoa in the Dominican Republic. It is a nonprofit organization, work community, and sustainability hub. The municipality helps sustain rural life in the Dominican Republic and shines a light on local traditions and culture. It is a place where visitors can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and exploring nature.
San Antonio Nursing Home
Students help pass out medications, served breakfast, and assisted patients in activities of daily living. This is many students favorite part of the service learning. This is a senior center for elderly patients who did not have any family to take care of them.
Ocoa Rehabilitation Association
Students are able to compare US rehabilitation centers to DR centers. The center also has Early Intervention services for small children with developmental and social delays.
Martinez Center / Community
A beautiful sustainable mountain community. Take a gorgeous hike around the farm. The students pick bananas right off of the trees, enjoyed freshly harvested sugar cane and collect avocados to enjoy. We participate in a sustainability conversation with the help of the translators from Adesjo.

Ecotourism Hike at Sendero Tat贸n
Students visit the Luis Quinn National park and Hydroelectric Dam which sustains all of the water for the communities.
San Jos茅 Hospital
San Jose Hospital is the local level two hospital serving the Ocoa community. They offer specialized care, operating room and post-operative care, and short-term hospitalization. This tour allows students to have a deeper understanding between nursing care and the hospital systems in the DR.
Jos茅 N煤帽ez de C谩ceres Technical High School
This visit allows students to interact with the Nursing high school technical high-school students. This gives our group the opportunity to compare programs and practice our Spanish. The students are eager to interact with us. The purpose is to see the difference in the Nursing education track in the DR opposed to US. In the DR, the students take an aptitude test that determines which career they will go into.
Special Education School
This visit allows students to interact with the only special education school within the Ocoa community. Students can spend time within classrooms participating in activities like coloring, puzzles, dominos, and bracelet making. Each classroom is separated to accommodate the diverse needs/disabilities of their students and allow them to progress through skills and abilities throughout the school system.
These visits provide students with a well-rounded view of healthcare, social services, and community development, helping them develop a more compassionate approach to patient care. They leave with a deeper understanding of how to respond to patients in diverse environments, particularly when resources are limited, which enhances their ability to provide empathetic, patient-centered care in their future healthcare careers. With the program offered bi-annually, future students will have the chance to embark on this transformative journey and gain valuable experiences that will shape their professional development.

Testimonies from former student travelers
鈥淢y overall experience during my visit to the Dominican Republic was very humbling. It was amazing to see how the community and the local people banded together to watch out and take care of one another. The sense of community is astonishing and the support everyone shows each other goes to show that the people of the DR are really one big family. That is my biggest takeaway from this trip that I will carry with me forever. I am forever grateful to have decided to participate in study abroad and will always be an advocate for others to participate.鈥 Javier
鈥淭he Healthcare Study Abroad trip to the Dominican Republic, has opened my eyes to the profound connections between health, community, and sustainability. In San Jose de Ocoa, healthcare is not just a profession; it鈥檚 a way of life. Families come together to nurture one another, ensuring that well-being is both accessible and abundant. I will carry with me the lessons learned from this vibrant community, feeling hopeful that I can integrate these principles into my own life and future endeavors.鈥 Jaime
鈥淚 am so thankful that I was able to attend this once in a lifetime trip to the Dominican Republic with 大象传媒. I got to experience a whole new way of living and see a unique way of treating patients and people as a whole. The people of the DR take care of each other and are so beautiful inside and out. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to end my time in nursing school by spending it with my nursing school classmates and the EMS students in such a fun and special way.鈥 Moriah
鈥淚 had the amazing opportunity of volunteering at a local nursing home, and the experience was so eye opening. I was able to interact with some incredibly kind and thoughtful patients, and the nurses who worked there knew every single patient by name. I feel honored to have been part of their community, even if just for a short time. Helping out in this environment brought me a sense of fulfillment but also deepened my appreciation for the importance of community care.鈥 Calum
"My visit to the Special Educate School was enriching, I worked with a student who was hearing impaired. I learned that from the very little sign language I know, it's enough to make someone's day just a little better." Connor
"I am so very grateful that I got a chance to study abroad In the DR. We did home visits in the community of Ocoa, checking blood pressure and blood sugars. The community was very welcoming and appreciative that we came to help. They accepted us into their homes with open arms. We came to the DR willing to help as many people as I could. Florence will captivate you with its Renaissance charm. Walk along the cobblestone streets where great artists like Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci once lived. Immerse yourself in the art of the Medici era with visits to iconic landmarks such as Ponte Vecchio, the Florence Baptistery, and the Duomo. Florence is a living textbook for art history and classical Italian architecture. During your exploration time, enjoy the vibrant chalk art along Republic Square, and take time to explore the Uffizi Gallery, home to an extensive collection of Renaissance masterpieces or visit the David by Michelangelo at the Galleria dell'Accademia Museum. For a stunning city view, climb Giotto's Campanile, the bell tower near the Uffizi. Afterward, relax at a caf茅 in Piazza della Signoria where you enjoy the local cuisine, enjoy a gelato and soak in the lively Italian culture, or take a ride on one of the many carousels scattered throughout the city. To continue with iconic landmarks and architecture, we will take a train to Pisa in Italy's Tuscany region to see the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa and take memorable photos to share.

Rome: Ancient Meets Modern
In Rome, experience the blend of ancient history and contemporary life. Walk through the awe-inspiring ruins of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, marveling at the architectural feats of Ancient Rome. Then, visit Vatican City, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Wander through the narrow, winding streets, immersing yourself in the vibrant landscape, and stroll to the iconic Trevi Fountain. Healthcare in the Dominican Republic 2025
鈥淚 am so thankful that I was able to attend this once in a lifetime trip to the Dominican Republic with 大象传媒. I got to experience a whole new way of living and see a unique way of treating patients and people as a whole. The people of the DR take care of each other and are so beautiful inside and out. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to end my time in nursing school by spending it with my nursing school classmates and the EMS students in such a fun and special way.鈥 ~Moriah

Spain and Portugal, Student Experience 2024
"This was my first time traveling abroad. It was amazing. I appreciated all the work the group leader and faculty did to prepare us for travel. I made so many new friends and experienced so many new things. The tours of the monuments, cathedrals, museums, and palaces were so beautiful and more breathtaking in person than in a book. I loved the flamenco performance. This trip was a great cultural experience." ~Bella

Art & Design Program to Amsterdam and Berlin in 2022
"The photography students were amazing on this trip! The goal of our program is to document as many aspects as possible of the places we visit, including the people, architecture, landscape, monuments, culture, food, or whatever inspires them. From the empty streets at 6am, to the hustle and bustle of the day, ending with a sunrise and reflections on the canal; they did not miss a moment to capture their experiences."

Criminal Justice and Comparative Government - London, Paris and Amsterdam 2022
"Traveling abroad changes our perspectives in so many ways, we learn about ourselves, about other cultures, and we learn about our own cultures in reference to our new experiences. While in each country, we learned about policies and systems at the foundation of each location. We learned the differences between parliamentary, semi-parliamentary, and presidential government systems. We experienced public policy in action every day of our travels."
~ Courtney, London, Paris, and Amsterdam 2022

Japan Student Experience - 2018
"I absolutely love travelling, it gives me the opportunity to experience different cultures I never thought I would have the chance to be a part of. Travelling broadens your mind and shows you the world in ways you never thought it existed."

鈥淭he Study Abroad class is my way of traveling the world. Making new friends along the way, sharing your stories and what you love, making new friends with the same interests and dreams. I made lifelong friendships.鈥

鈥淣ever has a class been this much fun with an opportunity to earn college credit. Travel always presents itself its own environment for adventure. This course broadened my knowledge of people and the places they live. It was such a great learning experience.鈥
